Join TPL-Minnesota for National Park(ing) Day 2008 Last year TPL worked with local partners to build temporary downtown parks in in Minneapolis and St. Paul for National Park(ing) Day*, an opportunity to celebrate parks in cities and promote the need for more parks by creating temporary public parks in public parking spaces. This year, National Park(ing) Day is Friday, September 19, 2008. Each park is an all-volunteer effort and all Minnesotans are welcome to participate and build their own Park(ing) Day park. More information on National Park(ing) Day *San Francisco art collective REBAR first created "PARK(ing)" in 2005 to re-imagine the potential of the metered parking space. In 2006, in collaboration with TPL, REBAR founded "PARK(ing) Day": a global exploration of the creative potential of streets.
